All caught up and already in the design process for my November Christmas Card.  Unprecedented!!!!

Check out both the Sept/Oct articles within paper crafts – they both link to the step by step video, they both link to my etsy site (where you can purchase the card kits – or new this month, the completed cards) AND they both include a laundry list of the Stampin’ UP item numbers for tools and supplies used to make the cards.   Finally developing a bit of consistency – yup, it took awhile.  Hang in there with me - and be back soon to see November product pics, Christmas card design and a 5 video series on Make It Yourself Stocking Stuffers – cleverly called MIY series of videos.   hahahaha – or it’s getting close enough now: hohohoho.

I have another Christmas Card video and kit uploading at the moment, BUT….  I am compelled to write about adhesives.  There are SO MANY out there!  I’ve tried a lot of them and many, many… many do not hold up against the test of time – which you don’t know until it is too late.  Check out my article in TIPS and TRICKS – definitely a TIP!

I’ve posted part 1 of my BigZ die techniques videos since I used all those stars for my House Guests layout.  Check it out under videos – techniques.  The associated article and pics are in scrapbooking – Yes, I know, in the video I create a ‘congratulations’ card.  I was wishy washy about where to put both the video and the article.  I’m just going to say it’s my website, so I do what I think works out the best.   The quicker and easier you can make stunning clusters and groupings, not to mention a 12″ border for your scrapbooks – the more you’ll enjoy scrapbooking.  Tedious is bad, fast and easy is good. :)   Off to a workshop to make the Christmas cards and tags which I HAVE NOT yet created the videos (or card kits for at my etsy shop).   Working on it!  Stay tuned.  Perhaps I can bum from my students ;)

Finished my latest B2E scrapbook layout – looks great and only because I took off on many tangents – visit my video page for scrapbooking layouts - it’s titled House Guests and take a look.   Began with the notion of highlighting the Paint System product and then moved off to creating a “Radiant” canvas’ for my layouts and then… thought – holy smokes – need to do something about these BIGZ dies.  If you are like me, I always felt that I, just working on my own scrapbook would never need to make a lot of anything. Wrong, wrong and wrong.  Check back as there are the radiant techniques – BIGZ dies, so many uses and…. tah dah… a week of handmade papercraft Christmas videos coming soon!

dunnageWhat to do with all the dunnage that you receive when you order off the internet – yup, that’s the shipping carton and ‘stuffing’ used to protect your order, which by the way you’ve already paid for – ie shipping and handling (at least that’s where I put those costs)?  I SAVE it and USE it.  Check out my latest techniques video (video tab – scrapbooking techniques) to create cardstock folders from what you are already paying for – file folders are up to about $7 each, and tips and tricks article (tips and tricks tab), deals with organizing.   Funny how life is one big coincidence, as these materials were dunnage from an order for Christmas I rec’d just Saturday when I was busy uploading this techniques video about using packing materials.  I think I have my wrapping paper taken care of as well!

Monthly picks are always a difficult choice for me.   Especially hard this month, because Halloween is coming up as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas.   I opted to focus on a technique and products that would support all the holidays and chose to work on HEAT EMBOSSING.   It can be a little intimidating, but once you try it – you’ll be embossing everything!   When it comes to embossing powders, everyone typically thinks “metallic” – BUT my pick is going to be WHITE.   White embossing works on any dark card stock – incredibly striking.  So for your Halloween images on black or that elegant eggplant or even a Cajun craze (purple and a deep orange)… perfect.  For Christmas, let’s go with the dark red, Cranberry Crisp with a poinsettia image, or the darkest blue, Night of Navy with a snowman, snowflake or polar bear.    That little container of powder will last forever, btw.  But the best advantage to white embossing is that your coordinating card stock is white -  if you shop for metallics they are a little pricy, but everyone has white.  Check back to see this months creations, articles and video links – I’m stoked to get started.
