The end of another month and time to choose 3 different product picks for July (Quick links on the Home page Tab).   A new catalog makes it tempting to choose all new products, but my first choice is going to be Crystal Effects, a product that has been around for years, but an essential for scrapbookers.  Posted an article on the scrapbooking page with plenty of photos demonstrating its versatility.

Scrapbook Expo

Posted June 26, 2013 By scrappy

Scrapbook Expo is coming to Georgia next month.   In all my years of scrapbooking I’ve never been to a convention!  I did a quick check of the website at http://www.scrapbookexpo.com/ and they apparently have all the 2013 shows scheduled.  You can wait for me to attend and give you a heads up, or check it out now.  The show is in Duluth, GA July 12th and 13th if you’re a neighbor!  I’d love to meet some of you.

Beer Can Wind Chimes

Posted June 26, 2013 By scrappy

DSCN7300If you already own a big shot, you are probably aware that the BIGZ dies cut through multiple layers of paper and card stock, material, chipboard, corkboard and .. on and on.   Well, they also work very nicely with ALUMINUM.  Specifically aluminum cans….  So, get out your scissors and a BigZ die (I used StampinUP’s Beautiful Butterflies BigZ die (114507)), empty some beer cans and put together something very cool for your deck or porch!  I’ve created a video and posted it under techniques: ”Beer Can Butterfly Wind Chimes” that goes from start to finish for this project.

something different

Posted June 21, 2013 By scrappy

If you’re looking for something a little different to do with your photographs, check out my Framed Keepsakes article on the “PaperCrafts” page.  A little break from the scrapbook, and everything looks so polished/professional when it is in a frame.  A super way to display those summer vacation memories!

Thumbs up for the Paper Twine Cording

Thumbs up for the Paper Twine Cording (mfg: Maya Road)

Posted about a week ago that this product looked interesting based on a webisode I caught on the paperwishes website.  They tend to focus on card making, but I saw a lot of potential for scrapbookers and recommend it based on the number of different techniques you can use to achieve a variety of new looks for borders, backgrounds and embellishments – PLUS, a little goes a long way!  My video’s been added, but I’ve also included a blurb and photos on my scrapbooking page.   Check it out – and pls send me a photo of your completed project if you’ve used it also.  I’d be happy to add it to the gallery.

title screen backdrop    DSCN7183Patterned stamp images are very popular and there are a lot of stamp sets available that have a single geometric shape repeated with different patterns.  There are several featured in our new catalog including a hexagon shape and a mosaic shaped set.  Now if you can afford it, there is no faster/easier way to go, especially if you can swing the coordinating punch.  But – if you have a pretty decent collection of stamps already – you probably have what it takes to create your own shaped and patterned images.  Check out my latest video: Do More with your solid stamps to get some creative scrapbooking idea and techniques.

Flocking

Posted June 12, 2013 By scrappy

I was inspired this weekend to use my Stampendous’ Flock product after discovering a video on utube (which I added to my collection of techniques videos).  It’s one of those things that I use from time to time, but have always been leary of adding it to my scrapbooks (flock fibers?  really?) – but combined with Stampin’UPs Heat and Stick powder it’s a winner.  Check out my “A Day at the Zoo” article in the scrapbooking tab to see how it turned out.

Did you know?

For their anniversay, Stampin’UP has been releasing clear mount stamp sets   combining favorite images from the past 25 years.  One set comes out each month, so check back occasionally.   While checking these out I came across 2 additional card Kits I wasn’t aware of based on contest winning designs.    Just more to choose from.
