How To Videos: Scrapbooking & Paper Craft
Unique Card Techniques - Fold Punching
Something quite a bit different from a typical hand made card – AND a great new way for you to use your small to medium sized inventory of paper punches. The punched spine makes a striking impact to the front of your card – replacing, in many cases, ribbons and panels – but the surprise is when you open it up.
Mini Fold Over Gift Box Designs Get ahead of the game – these 3 for 1 (as easy to create 3 as to make a single) are PERFECT for gift cards, low profile jewelry, narrow candies, and I’m thinking Ghiradelli chocolate squares and coupon books – cash works also. What a great presentation. Prep ahead, adding the salutation to meet the occasion. See the article on the paper crafts page.
Christmas Wishes Keepsake - Paper Crafts What a great way to use those double sided patterned papers! Choose a circle size to match your punch – because you will be creating a lot of circles – calculate the square to be used as the template to fold over the edges – and then arrange and stuff your circles. A dimensional keepsake is the result.
Beginner Stamping - Wetlands Project 1 A series of videos (6 in all) that are a must see if you are wanting to start out in stamping/card making/scrapbooking.
Grunge II - Scrapbook Techniques Plenty more thoughts on how to achieve the ‘grunge’ look on your scrapbook pages. This follows from Grunge I and focus’ more on complete layout designs and techniques to create stunning results.
Candy Caddy I’m hoping just in time for Halloween, BUT I share some designs that make the most out of your 8.5×11 card stock and, you know me, using a template to mass produce these caddies for your party favors – take home goodies, as well as a refreshing alternative to the table teepees at the dinner table.
Grunge 1 - Scrapbook Techniques The focus in this video is on the titles and journaling that go along with a “Grunge” layout design. I demonstrate a few of my favorites. Feels good to put away the rulers and guide lines for a change of pace.
Easel Slider Card Design There are a lot of things to like about this card. It looks like it would be a bear to put together, but it’s not. I take you through the mechanics and considerations when decorating 3 very different cards in this short video.
Puff Gift - An Embellishment and Focal I spend a short amount of time constructing my “puff gifts”, and then show plenty of samples on where you would use them in your paper crafting: Card focals (for sure), scrapbook borders and/or embellishments, gift tag accents and even as ornaments. See also my article on the paper craft page – Large focals and embellishments.
Create Patterned Paper - Halloween Scrapbook Layout Sometimes it is necessary to put together borders that are totally customized with the colors and images that you need for your scrapbook pages. In this video I have Halloween photographs that are primarily Red, White and Blue! OMG.
Quilt Look Layouts Scrapbooking Technique The temperatures are dropping so I’m thinking quilts. Sure, could start on a queen size quilt – OR create quilt look layouts to satisfy the itch. Several styles are demonstrated in sample 12×12 layouts (most are coordinating double page spreads for your scrapbooking.
Design and Techniques - Paper Crafts: Christmas Framelits Cards, Wall hangings and Scrapbook Layouts all focusing around 3 framelits. The associated article is on the scrapbooking page since any or all of the card front elements can serve as embellishments for pages. It’s worth the watch! Also, I few thoughts on picking framelit collections, dies and punches on my tips & tricks page.
Step Fancy Fold Card Designs Use all of your beautiful patterned papers to make these structurally dimensional and incredibly displayable greeting cards. I’ve included templates for 3 different variations for you to try – Side, Raised Side and Center Steps.
Double Flip Card Design A double flip is a bit more fancy pants than your typical greeting. Get productive with your framelits – especially the nested variety and create some gorgeous greeting cards.
Spotlight Layout Scrapbook Technique We are all scrapbooking pages that depict the things that are important to us – BUT if you crop the photo – zoom in on the photo – you lose the feel of the page. Spotlighting on your pages is a great way to capture both the action and or event and focus on the important stuff.
Spring thing Note Cards - Ink Blot Technique I’m luving this card design because it is economical to create many of them at once. From the base card to the front and interior panels, producing in batches of 6 works. Die cuts make up the focal images – so roll away with your big shot. Since I demonstrate the ink blot on the individually sized panels -but also as a sheet, once it dries and is ironed, the interiors can be easily fed through your printer for computer journaling. So think – invitations, thankyou’s or just your stash of stylish blanks to have on hand whenever you need them.
Scrapbooking techniques Photographs The point of a scrapbook is to capture memories and highlight those moments which are important to you, or whomever you are giving the scrapbook to. So, thinking that we’ve progressed so far with embellishments, but the story is in the photographs. This is a two part video – since I’m thinking graduation in something a bit and beyond – so please, also check out: Scrapbooking Layout:Graduation to see how it all turned out!!!
Matted Pennants and Banners for your scrapbook page My goodness, how many products and tools to create simple shaped banners. I run through demonstration of center point, notched and pennant shapes – INCLUDING matting to fit your scrapbooking needs – it really just depends on what you’re trying to put in them for your layout. Money save video – die cuts for these basic shapes is, well, ridiculous. Get a paper trimmer and a ruler, some grid paper.
